This policy explains how we collect and use your personal data when you visit our website, place an order, or interact with our advertising on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.

1. What Data We Collect

When you place an order or request samples, we collect your name, delivery address, email address, and phone number. Payment is processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your full card details. When you visit our website, we automatically collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited.

2. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and tracking technologies on our website. Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function and are loaded automatically. All other cookies — including Google Analytics 4 for site performance, the Meta Pixel for Instagram and Facebook advertising, and the Pinterest Tag for Pinterest advertising — are only loaded after you give your consent via the cookie banner when you first visit the site. You can change your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in our footer.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to process and fulfil your orders (legal basis: contractual necessity), to send marketing emails and lookbooks if you have opted in (legal basis: your consent), to analyse website performance via Google Analytics (legal basis: your consent), and to run advertising campaigns on Meta and Pinterest (legal basis: your consent). We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers necessary to run our business: Squarespace for website hosting, Stripe for payments, Google for analytics, Meta and Pinterest for advertising, and our logistics partners for order fulfilment. All are contractually bound to protect your data.

4. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are based in the United States. Where this is the case, data transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep order data for ten years as required by Swiss accounting law. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Advertising pixel data is retained for up to 180 days as set by each platform.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to receive a copy of your data in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@kariokas.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at www.edoeb.admin.ch or, if you are in the EU, with your local data protection authority.
