Note from our founder

“Growing up in Europe, between Geneva and Paris, I have always been fascinated by South America, the continent of my mother.
With family in Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Peru, I started travelling around the region from a young age and found that every country I visited had a common enchanting spell.

I was nostalgic for this unique atmosphere every time I returned home and created Kariokas with the aim of adding a tropical South American soul to interiors through textiles and wallpapers.

I hope that Kariokas designs will make you travel.”

Pamina Saba del Pozzo, Founder & artist

The images and colors Pamina uses in the collections are reminiscent of the region’s luxuriant landscapes, flora and fauna and irresistible “joie de vivre”.

Inspired by Rio

“The marvelous city of Rio de Janeiro has always felt like a second home, where I truly belong despite living more than 5000 miles aways. Hence, the name "Kariokas" was chosen in reference to "Cariocas" the inhabitants of Rio.
As if we could all become a bit "Cariocas" ourselves when living with my designs.” - Pamina

Hand-painted designs

Pamina’s design inspiration stems from the colorful, elegant home where she grew up, influenced by her South American and Egyptian heritage. Surrounded by lush flowers, vivid colors, and murals, Pamina developed an appreciation for visual storytelling, which naturally led her to create tropical wallpaper that celebrates nature, joy, and cultural identity.

Her creative journey begins with travel and daily sense exploration—capturing striking color combinations, distinctive plant life, and inspiring textures through photography and keen observation. These sensory impressions inform the stories behind her designs. Each piece starts with hand-drawn sketches and watercolor painting, preserving a personal, tactile connection to her work. The compositions are then refined digitally for layout and customization, but every element remains hand-drawn, reflecting the uniqueness of her artistic vision

Our mission is to bring beauty, joy, and nature’s diversity to unique interiors
while raising awareness about the importance of conservation.
